MK1 GTi's

Mk 1 suzuki swift GTi's were released in Austrailia from 1986 through to 1988. The do on 1.3 litres what other cars take up to 2litres to match.

MK1's are powered by a very potent 1.3l twin cam 16 valve electrone fuel injected motor wich produces 75kw@6750rpm with a redline of 7500rpm.

It maynot seem like alot of power but when you only have 750kg's of car to haul around combined with ample gearing this car proves to be a very sporty package.

A MK1 GTi in stock form is faster than any other stock GTi 0-100 in 8.6 seconds and a 1/4 mile of 16.6sec.

Mechanically

Mechanically a GTi is almost bulletproof but not completely idiot proof, some people will tell you to stay away from GTi's because they have a weak 2nd gear synchro..not true there are plenty of hi kilometre as well as ex racecars out there completing 200k with out syncro trouble the stnchro will only give you trouble if you like flatshifting or have a very harsh driving style.

MK1's and some MK2's have hollow camshafts wich are lighter and let the engine rev up faster because of less reciprocating mass.
